Twitter ejection, Danish election

Post 00023 | November 9th, 2022

This is going to be a quick life update. As you may have noticed, I have finally stopped using Twitter. In fact, the reason I started this website was to have a void to scream into if the Twitter sale went through. Now they have a new captain at the helm I thought it would be a good time to jump in the ocean.

That said, I might get a Mastodon account. While I do enjoy updating this website, it is more geared towards longer posts. I've tried to streamline the process, but it still does take a few minutes update everything before I upload it to the server, so the short "Oh look, my egg has two yolks" updates doesn't seem worth the effort - A true loss to the Internet. Maybe I should start tooting?

Oh, and we had an election last week! The Social Liberals, who was a coalition party to the ruling Social Democrats, had demanded an early election; During the pandemic, the Social Democrats had somewhat illegally ordered a shutdown all mink farms in the country after mutated coronavirus had been found on some of the farms. I still don't understand why they demanded this election; The Social Liberals have been doing terribly in the polls since forever as opposed to some of the new right-wing parties they have nothing in common with. In the end they lost over half of their seats and their leader resigned after the election. I don't know what they were expecting.

I was successful at avoiding the election debates this time which suits me well as I had already made my decision. Personally I thought the entire election was dumb and and the way they've been treating the prime minister post pandemic made me think of Joan of Arc. The first polls of the election period showed a gain for the loud right, so I assumed they would win. Luckily, it didn't go that bad.

The Social Democrats are still the largest party and even managed to gain a couple of seats. However, most of the other socialist parties didn't fare as well, so they will have to create quite a wide coalition to stay in power. And by wide I mean stretching to the Arctic; Currently they are get help from Inuit Ataqatigiit and Siumut, the two parties from Greenland who were voted in.

As it stands now however they still are still negotiating across all parties. Until they have a agreement in place, the current all-Social Democrat cabinet is still minding the country.
